Hello St. Catherine of Siena Families! It is hard to believe that we are just a few days away from the month of October. It has been a great start to the school year so far. Thank you to the PTO who organized and put on a great Fun Run Fundraising event for us this morning. Thank you to the many volunteers that worked behind the scenes to set up, clean up and help at the event.
Next week starts our annual IOWA/CoGAT testing. This year Second grade again will only be taking the CoGATs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The rest of grades 3-8 will be taking the IOWA test on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We will be testing in the morning from 8:30 - 10:30. If a child is absent, they will be allowed to make up the test during the week of October 7-11. Please refer to the letter that was sent home last week concerning testing and how you can help your child.
Next week we also have an exciting opportunity to welcome Bishop Zarama to our campus. We will be celebrating mass for the school children on Wednesday, October 2 at 8:30 am. Once mass is finished, the Bishop will be headed towards the school for a tour and visits to the classroom. You can follow the bishop's visit on our Social Media pages linked below.
Finally, just a friendly reminder to please not block the entrance to the memorial garden while lining up for carpool either in the morning or afternoon. This entrance should remain open at all times out of respect for the families that want to go and visit their loved ones in the columbarium.
Fill A Bottle - Change a Life
Our annual fundraiser for Birthchoice has started and will be running
September 25th- November 3rd
to coincide with the 40 Days for Life campaign. A jumbo baby bottle bank will sit on the desk of all classroom teachers.
Each day or week students are encouraged to bring in whatever loose change, cash or checks (payable to Birthchoice) to fill up bank. This will allow students to see their actual progress as the money accumulates daily/weekly.
The class that raises the most money will win a pizza party provided by Birthchoice that will be hosted prior to Thanksgiving break.
Last year Birthchoice raised $1,295 from the school fundraiser. Birthchoice also raised $1816 from the Unplanned movie premier which covered costs for ultrasound supplies for an entire year!
Thank you for your generous support to this campaign. More details will be coming on specific activities the school will be sponsoring in addition to the Baby Bottle Drive.
Grandparents Day is this Friday! Thank you to all those parents and grandparents who have RSVP to attend. I also appreciate the flexibility in being able to reschedule our event due to the Hurricane that came through earlier this month. If you haven't responded yet and are able to come, please email Ivy.
