Principal's Newsletter April 8, 2022
Dear SCS School Families,
It is hard to believe we will be entering into Holy Week and Easter already! This Lenten season has been busy but beautiful for our school community. I have witnessed our students desire and seek holiness - they have done so with grace and maturity. The teachers and staff have also shown great care as they work with your students not only in academics but also in matters of faith and holiness.
As I reflect on the past weeks and look forward to what is to come I am humbled by the task God has trusted me with. However, it is not just for me, it is for all of us. Each of us is called to "be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect," (Matthew 5:48). I was reminded of this truth this week by an unlikely source. During The Week of the Young Child, our preschool teachers organized a presentation by Happy Dan the Magic Man. Not only were the students (and teachers, for that matter) engaged and having fun, but Happy Dan used his props and tricks to discuss the importance of families and our quest for holiness. He explained each of us has unique talents but together we make one family. He explained that each member is important, though different, but together the family is strong and whole.
We hear such reflections in scripture in several places, but we also see that lived out in our daily lives, and in the life of the Church. In the coming week, the Church recalls so many important events. It is important to remember the gift of each and allow God to speak to us through each. As we welcome new members of God's family during Easter Vigil it is easy to recall the joy and love we are surrounded with.
Let us remember to be patient and kind, not everyone is called to serve in the same way. Let's help each other along the path to holiness!

Filming On Campus
St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School is blessed to have a family who owns and operates a film production company - Roseland Pictures. They graciously offered to film a mini-documentary at our school. The focus of the film will be the perspective of the students. The film crew was on campus April 5 - 6; it was exciting to see the crew and equipment around the school. We are excited to see the final product. We owe a debt of gratitude to Roseland Pictures for the generous gift. I'd also like to thank our students and parents for your cooperation and patience as we put our best foot forward for this project.
Week of the Young Child
The National Week of the Young Child was celebrated April 2 - 8 this year. The preschool classes had various activities and events to celebrate the week including storytime with Mrs. Schwarz, music time, Happy Dan the Magic Man, bubbles, and sidewalk chalk, a surprise juggler visit, and more! The teachers, aides, and students had a great week celebrating the joy of our youngest saints.

Our school and parish community is blessed with a very active and generous Knights of Columbus council. They take good care of us throughout the year. This week the Knights donated bouquets of flowers for our teachers and staff. We are so thankful for their thoughtfulness!
Juggle Fun!
Did you know that Mrs. James' husband is a juggler? Mr. James graciously visited several classes on Thursday. The students love watching his skills and he allows them to get involved as well. Thank you, Mr. James for sharing your love for juggling with our school!

Mrs. Burns (preschool 4 teacher) is happy to announce the birth of her grandson, Mr. Lincoln Ryan who was born on March 27, 2022. Young Lincoln is welcomed by his parents, Ryan and Nicole, and his two big brothers, Logan and Lucas.
